A Louisville higher-education institution is hiring a Cloud Architect to own its Microsoft Azure environment end to end — the design, the build, and everything that keeps it running. This is a hands-on seat. You'll set the architecture standards and then go implement them yourself, working alongside infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, application and campus technology teams.

What you'll do

\n
• Design, deploy and administer Azure infrastructure and cloud-native services
\n
• Set enterprise cloud architecture standards, reference architectures and roadmaps for cloud, hybrid and future multi-cloud
\n
• Manage subscriptions, resource groups, virtual networks, compute, storage, databases, backup, DR and identity services
\n
• Build and maintain hybrid connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure
\n
• Configure Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Privileged Identity Management and RBAC
\n
• Automate with Terraform, Bicep or ARM Templates, plus PowerShell and Azure CLI
\n
• Monitor performance, security and compliance through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Defender for Cloud
\n
• Implement backup, disaster recovery and high availability with Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery
\n
• Support cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization and enterprise technology initiatives
\n
• Partner with cybersecurity on cloud security, vulnerability remediation and Zero Trust
\n
• Mentor infrastructure teammates on cloud technologies and operational best practice
\n

What you need

\n
• 5+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure, with hands-on Microsoft Azure at the center of it
\n
• Experience administering Entra ID, Azure networking, storage, compute, monitoring and security services
\n
• Infrastructure as Code you've written and maintained — Terraform, Bicep or ARM Templates
\n
• Strong PowerShell and Azure CLI scripting and automation
\n
• Solid grounding in cloud networking — VPN connectivity, firewalls, DNS, load balancing and hybrid networking
\n
• Experience implementing backup, disaster recovery, business continuity and high availability
\n
• A track record of carrying work from design through deployment into production
\n
• Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience
\n

• Azure certifications — AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-500
\n
• Higher education or healthcare environment experience
\n
• Azure DevOps or GitHub, CI/CD pipelines and version control
\n
• Zero Trust architecture and compliance frameworks
\n
• Multi-cloud exposure
\n

Details

\n
• 6-month contract-to-hire (conversion salary is 120k/yr)
\n
• Hybrid in Louisville, KY — onsite 4 days a week to start, settling to 3 days after training is over
\n
• Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm EST
